Adrenalin Quarry Cornwall – review
The ZIP was, without doubt, our favourite as a young family. What I loved was that THE ZIP is actually two parallel zips which makes putting your child on and being able to do it alongside them just brilliant. Plus dual zips means the queue shrinks rapidly so nervous waiting times are kept to a minimum.
Whilst 7-year old Minnie was bursting with enthusiasm, 5-year old Bo was steadfastly refusing to participate (we had showed them the website videos before setting off – perhaps not the best move!).

Staff are very safety conscious and make sure everyone is fitted into harnesses and versed in what to do before you make the jump.
Harnessed in and weighed, the attentive staff calculate the correct ballast of water for Minnie, pumping it into a barrel for her to ride astride.
The 50m drop is sobering. The platform bears more than a resemblance of a hangman’s gallows! I found encouraging your child beside you is a welcome distraction from the gaping abyss.
On the count of three, I step into the air & simultaneously my daughter is released next to me. Wind buffets our faces as we whizz along at exhilarating speed. Beaming, our eyes connect. Before us the lush forest and the emerald quarry water sparkle in the sun.
The second half of the zip takes you so low over the water you almost dip the surface. Before you know it you’ve reached the far end of the shore and, on touch down, Adrenalin Quarry staff are there to see you safely ashore and unharness you.

The Big Swing – Adrenalin Quarry Cornwall

The Big Swing is NOT for the faint hearted. You need big balls! I was terrified and my daughter cried she was so scared! Never again!
I had vowed beforehand that I would happily sit this one out, but my oldest completely unfazed egged me on. Harnessed onto a metal bar, legs dangling, we were winched backwards agonizingly slowly. My heart beating furiously, the miniature staff, growing tinier by the minute called up we’d just passed the halfway mark! What!? This was seriously high and really scary!
At 90 degrees to the ground, the winch ceased. The momentary sickening wait is hard to bear. Hearts pounding, stomachs turning, an audible metallic click releases us and we drop into free fall – a few seconds of sheer terror before flying out over the edge of the quarry, 160ft over the lake. Both in shock and breathless, we fly backwards and horrifyingly realize that it’s going to take us over the edge again with no obvious slowing down! The second pendulum, equally hideous, finally slows into a gentle oscillation much to our relief. Phenomenally hair raising this ride takes guts to go on and promises a thrill of epic proportions – perfect for teenagers. The video of the ordeal (horrorcam!) is a perfect souvenir to take home.
The Adrenalin Quarry also offer coasteering and THE BLOB for ages 10+ (a giant inflatable which propels you into the lake when another jumps on it). With sheer cliffs to climb, hurl yourself off into the water below. The newest addition to the Adrenalin Quarry is AXE THROWING! (min age 12). I can imagine how much teenagers would love this to vent their angst!

Verdict: if you’re holidaying in Cornwall, definitely put Adrenalin Quarry on your agenda. The kids loved it! We could have stayed on the zip all day!

This is brilliant, didn’t know we had such a great facility so close to home, sounds like a great day out.
Matt, if you live nearby you definitely have to visit! It’s so fab for families plus you can make a day of it by taking a picnic and setting up camp by the lake for the day. Thanks for following our blog.
This looks great! I know a three year old who would happily jump!
