With zero family nearby to assist, you’ve got the gist of the upheaval happening right here, right now. No-one said moving countries en famille was going to be easy but overwhelmed is the word of the week as we near our departure date in 11 days time.
Last week the arduous task of vacating our family home whizzed by in a whirl of tenancy agreements, inventories and meter readings. With new school visits in the bag (the girls won’t be able to get back into their current school on our return), the remainder of this week has been firmly on Christmas, whilst tomorrow we’ll be hotfooting it up the motorway to Wales to ashamedly attend an emergency child passport renewal appointment.
Discovering Argos click and collect has been a godsend as family flurry to order the girls’ presents to go with us before we leave. This week Christmas is in the hot chair as we frantically buy presents, stocking fillers and throw our Christmas decoration box on the ‘to go’ pile.
We love Christmas decorations and can’t wait to have a white Christmas again, which is, in my book, pure Christmas perfection. With the pound so weak we’re exporting our Christmas decorations with us rather than doubling up again once in France – but I will indulge in one French bauble to add to our collection. The UK shops have some fabulous baubles this year. We love anything travel, exotic or foreign themed so without further ado, here are my top 9 baubles for this year’s tree.
2. Chamonix sledge – John Lewis £3.50
3. Ski lift – Harrods £16.95
4. Oh darling – Zazzle.co.uk £10.75
5. Chamonix Horse – John Lewis £2.50
6. Chamonix glass cloche skiier – John Lewis – £6.00
7. Wooden skull christmas decorations – Paperchase £8.00
8. Globe baubles (box of 4) – Paperchase £15.00
9. Shangri-la Toucan – John Lewis £12.00
